Gabriel Agbonlahor says 24-year-old who’s better than Brennan Johnson would be perfect for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to go out and bring in a 24-year-old who is already better than Brennan Johnson.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are well on their way to landing a spot in Europe for next season, but Champions League remains the goal.

The Lilywhites had to settle for a draw on Tuesday night against West Ham in a game which really saw the defence come out on top.

Micky van de Ven returned to the starting XI after his injury issues and it was apparent the Spurs fans were delighted to see him back in the side.

But it was Brennan Johnson who got his name on the scoresheet for the Lilywhites after he converted Timo Werner‘s cross early on in the game.

Looking ahead to the summer, Spurs have already been tipped by Fabrizio Romano to bring in an important midfield player.

There have been a number of players who have been linked with a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium like Conor Gallagher and Teun Koopmeiners.

But there is another player who is said to be on Tottenham’s radar who Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks would be perfect for Tottenham.

Tottenham urged to sign 24-year-old who may be sold this summer

Postecoglou already has a host of midfield options following his addition of James Maddison over the summer transfer window.

The likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma play a slightly different role for Postecoglou to Maddison.

But it is also expected that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will leave Hotspur Way this summer as he’s already changed agents ahead of the window.

Another player who has seen his future become more uncertain as the season has evolved is Giovani Lo Celso with his game time extremely limited.

However, Spurs have been linked with a potential move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White just months after they raided the City Ground of Johnson.

And speaking on TalkSPORT, Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham to out and sign the 24-year-old Englishman this summer: “I see a team that suits him as Spurs,” he said.

“Because look at Maddison being brought off in the few games recently and they’re bringing on Lo Celso who’s decen. Imagine having that power next season, Champions League football and you’re bringing on Gibbs-White when you’re rotating Gibbs-White in that position. I think he offers everything.”

“Brennan Johnson was – I think – £50m. Exactly and he’s better than him. So you might be talking more.”

Nuno Espirito Santo thinks Gibbs-White is almost the complete footballer

Gibbs-White is currently playing his football under the former Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

He’s returned an impressive four goals and seven assists for a struggling Forest side in the Premier League alone this season – four of those contributions coming in his last three games.

And it is apparent the former Spurs boss is delighted with the player he has inherited at the City Ground.

Speaking to BBC Sport after Forest’s win over Fulham, he said: “He’s very talented, no doubt about that. He’s reaching the levels of a footballer player that is almost complete. He reads the game well, he has talent, and he can score.

“The biggest challenge is to keep Morgan at that level and sustain this level of all the players. Many players did well behind him to allow him to attack.”

With European football surely on the menu for Spurs next season, Gibbs-White could prove a quality alternative to Maddison who has been no stranger to injuries.
