Report: Club now very keen to sign £50m Crystal Palace player after what happened last week

Crystal Palace are expecting some serious interest in their crown jewels this summer, now one club look likely to make a move.

Oliver Glasner has faced a turbulent time at Selhurst Park so far, and this summer it isn’t likely to get any easier.

With several players being linked with an exit, a rebuild of some sorts is expected.

Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze are the attacking duo that some of the league’s heavy hitters are expected to be chasing.

While Marc Guehi is another being courted by some of the Premier League‘s richest clubs.

Now, there has been an update on the interest for one of these players.

Let’s find out who.

Marc Guehi now being hunted by Newcastle

Despite not playing a single game under Glasner so far, interest in Guehi has been mounting lately.

The centre-half who currently earns £50k-a-week at Selhurst Park has attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United already this season.

Now, according to a report by Football Insider, it’s Newcastle who are plotting a move.

This comes amid the Magpies having a defensive injury crisis, most recently with Jamal Lascelles out injured last week.

With £50m the price they’ll have to pay at least, Palace could view it as a good deal which will allow them to strengthen.

Crystal Palace may even need to sell to strengthen this summer

While the common belief is that this summer Glasner will be backed and see his side strengthened substantially, this might not be the case.

According to Kieran Maguire, who spoke with Football Insider, Palace aren’t actually preparing for a summer spending spree.

This because Palace are teetering on the edge of a PSR breach with losses of £125m recorded over the past three years.

This will be hugely concerning, as without strengthening substantially, Palace could find themselves struggling next season.

It’s almost certain that sales will be needed to supplement purchases this summer.
