'Crucial': Ange Postecoglou says what he's expecting from Nottingham Forest on Sunday when Tottenham face them

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has already provided some insight on what he’s expecting from Nottingham Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo is set to face his former side for the very first time since being sacked by the Lilywhites in 2021.

When the two sides met earlier in the season at the City Ground, it was the north Londoners who came out on top.

However, they have been tested in the last week in their state of the art stadium by Luton Town with a late goal proving the difference.

Forest would have prefered the game to have been on home soil with Fulham’s Tom Cairney recently saying how intense of an atmosphere the Forest fans created on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, reported Tottenham target Morgan Gibbs-White will be hoping to carry on his fine form from earlier in the week.

He was hailed following his display against Fulham which saw him find the back of the net in first half stoppage time.

Considering everything which has gone against Forest in recent weeks – whether that be VAR decisions or the points deduction – the players now look ready to fight for their survival.

Postecoglou expecting a seriously tough challenge against Forest

Going into the game on the weekend, the two sides both come into it in similar form following the international break.

Spurs were able to take four points from their games against Luton and West Ham with Forest doing the same against Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Forest will go into the game knowing full well where they stand in the table with Luton playing on Saturday against Bournemouth.

It is situation which could either pile the pressure on Forest if Luton get a result, or it could ease that pressure if the Cherries take all three points.

But it is apparent spirits are now high at Forest on the back of that win on Tuesday with even Evangelos Marinakis showing his delight in the tunnel after the game.

The Forest owner was spotted hugging each and every one of the players after the game.

And Forest know they will have to be at their absolute best if they are able to take three points from Spurs.

Speaking to the media from Tottenham’s training centre on Friday, Postecoglou hailed the fighting spirit he has seen from Forest.

“Massive [challenge]. They are fighting for every point and every goal. For Forest everything for them is crucial at the moment so they are not going to come here and give us anything. We are going to have to earn everything and it will be up to do it.”

Forest will get opportunities to score against Tottenham

For as good of a team as Tottenham have proven to be under Postecoglou, their defensive record leaves a lot to be desired for a top side.

Spurs have been able to keep just one clean sheet in the league since they won at the City Ground back in December.

Forest will get opportunities to score and Postecoglou has been very open in admitting his side will concede chances.

“It’s disappointing to concede goals late. It’s disappointing to concede goals early. Either side of half-time is not great, around the 70th-minute mark you get disappointed,” he told the media in February.

“Mate, I don’t care, I really don’t care. I get it, people will want to analyse it but that’s fine, we’re always going to be a team that scores goals or concede goals late.
