Arteta could now start 'phenomenal' 22-year-old for Arsenal tonight, he's a 'nightmare to play against' - opinion

Arsenal will be hoping to return to the top of the Premier League table following their Saturday evening game against Brighton.

The Premier League summit is proving to be quite the game of musical chairs at present, with the leader changing twice in midweek.

Liverpool were top until Arsenal beat Luton Town on Wednesday to leapfrog the Reds, only for Jurgen Klopp’s side to return to the summit the following day.

This weekend, we could well see all three title contenders take turns with top spot, depending on how each team gets on.

If Manchester City win by four or more goals away at Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early kickoff, they’ll go top on goals scored.

Then, if the Gunners beat Brighton in the evening, they’ll take top spot. And then, if Liverpool triumph at Manchester United, they’ll return to the summit once again.

However, this is all assuming every title challenger wins convincingly. Who knows what twists and turns there will be on matchweek 31.

Gabriel Martinelli could return to Arsenal starting XI for Brighton clash

Arsenal will hope to have their strongest possible XI available, but Bukayo Saka remains a doubt – at least as far as fans are concerned, as he wasn’t pictured in Friday’s training session.

However, one top talent we’re likely to see back in the starting XI is Gabriel Martinelli, who Arteta has eased back from injury in the last two games.

Martinelli replaced Saka late on in the game against Man City, making his first appearance in around a month after sustaining a gashed foot against Sheffield United.

The 22-year-old Brazilian was also kept from the starting XI against Luton Town, once again coming on in the latter stages of the game.

Hopefully Martinelli is now fully fit to start, as he’s a world-class player whose ‘unstoppable‘ pace and directness down the left flank are a major asset.

Indeed, Arteta previously deemed him “a nightmare to play against” and hailed his “phenomenal” progress at N5.

Meanwhile, Highbury icon Ian Wright recently claimed that the Gunners would have beaten Pep Guardiola’s side if Martinelli was fit enough to start.

Let’s hope Saka is also fit for the Brighton clash, as Arsenal now have eight cup finals ahead of them in the league and they’ll need to be at their strongest.
