'What a player': Ange Postecoglou says player Daniel Levy sold at Tottenham is an absolute 'legend'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has lauded a player who used to play for Spurs many years ago.

The Aussie has become a fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, hasn’t he? He has done a magnificent job since he arrived and has completely transformed the club.

One thing Postcoglou has shown at Spurs apart from his management and fantastic style of football is his eye for top talent. All the players he has signed have been brilliant so far.

While speaking about one of them in his press conference yesterday, Postecoglou raved about a player who played over 235 games for Tottenham in the past.

Ange Postecoglou says one former Tottenham player is a ‘legend’

Tottenham have had many great players in their squads over the years.

The North Londoners often get criticised because they haven’t won any trophies for over 15 years now, but their fans have witnessed some phenomenal footballers.

The likes of Heung-min Son, James Maddison and Cristian Romero are the stars of today, while Harry Kane was their superstar until he left last summer. The likes of Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart and Mousa Dembele are adored to this day as well.

One other player who Tottenham fans love even though he left the club back in 2013 is Gareth Bale.

The Welshman was one of the best players in the Premier League when he was at Spurs. He achieved incredible things at Real Madrid as well after Daniel Levy sold him for a then-world-record fee.

In his press conference yesterday, Ange Postecoglou was asked about Bale’s comments on Brennan Johnson where he said the ‘sky is the limit‘ for the Tottenham attacker.

Postecoglou agreed with that assessment and praised Johnson, but he couldn’t help himself from showing his admiration for Bale later on.

“And Gareth Bale is a legend, mate, what a player,” Postecoglou said, as per Football London.

Gareth Bale’s stats at Tottenham and Real Madrid compared

Gareth Bale’s time at Tottenham and Real Madrid turned out very differently.

The Welshman didn’t win anything but the League Cup in 2008 during his time at Spurs, but he is really appreciated by everyone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium even to this day.

Bale played 237 times for Spurs in two spells at the club. He scored 72 goals and provided 58 assists, which may seem less but you have to remember that he played many games as a left-back.

At Real Madrid, on the other hand, Bale helped them win five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles and eight other trophies there. But, he was booed by fans of his own club and isn’t fondly remembered at all.

In 258 games for the Spanish giants, Bale scored 106 goals and provided 67 assists in all competitions.
