'Definitely': Ange Postecoglou makes claim about Rangers v Celtic ahead of Glasgow derby tomorrow

Glasgow Rangers and Celtic will be contesting one of the most important Glasgow derbies at Ibrox on Sunday.

There is very little between the Gers and the Bhoys at present, with Philippe Clement’s side just one point behind Brendan Rodgers’ charges in the table.

Celtic currently sit top with 74 points from 31 games, while Rangers are second on 73 points – and crucially, with a game in hand on the Hoops.

Sunday sees Ibrox play host to Rangers and Celtic in a match that could have a big say in where the title ultimately goes at the end of the season.

The Glasgow derby is one of the fiercest derbies in the world, and one man who has considerable experience of this is Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian managed Celtic between 2021 and 2023, winning two Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups and one Scottish Cup in that time.

Postecoglou may have since swapped Parkhead for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he’s still looking to follow the game on Sunday.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Rangers v Celtic?

I’ll definitely be watching,” Postecoglou said at Spurs’ pre-match press conference ahead of the Nottingham Forest game, posted on YouTube.

“It’s one of the biggest rivalries in world football. I am very much on the green and white side and I know what it means to the supporters to win that game.

“As much as we talk about derbies and they mean more, this one does.

“I lived and breathed it for a couple of years and it’s a really important game for both clubs, and you look at how tight the table is this year and it takes on extra significance.

“It’ll be a cracking game and I’ll be tuning in.”

It’s good to hear Postecoglou still speak highly of Celtic and of the Glasgow derby.

With six hours between the derby kicking off and Spurs taking on Nottingham Forest, the Australian will have a chance to follow the match, and hopefully it’ll be a good spectacle.
