'I can not guarantee': Manager Bruno Fernandes rates highly admits he could leave his club, Man Utd linked

A manager Bruno Fernandes has already sung the praises of has admitted he could leave his club this summer, with Manchester United previously being linked with him.

Manchester United could be on the lookout for a new manager following the season with Erik ten Hag’s future far from certain.

The Dutchman has endured a difficult second campaign in charge at Old Trafford and though his squad has been plagued by injuries, he has not solved any of the problems that plague his side.

Thursday’s dramatic defeat to Chelsea epitomised the season as United failed to control the game and threw away three points with terrible defending in the final moments.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now at the helm after his Ineos group took charge of football operations at the club from the Glazers earlier this year.

Big changes are already being made at boardroom level and the new regime may look to go in a new direction on the pitch as well.

A potential replacement for Erik ten Hag

One potential replacement for Ten Hag, should he be sacked, would be Sporting coach Ruben Amorim.

The 39-year-old has his side above Porto and Benfica at the top of the league in Portugal and has been linked with a big move this summer.

Liverpool are said to want Amorim to replace Jurgen Klopp but Unitedhave also been linked.

Now when asked about his future, Amorim has admitted he could leave Sporting this summer.

He said, via Fabrizio Romano on X: “I can not guarantee that I will stay at Sporting next season.

“I can’t say that like Xabi Alonso did.

“We have time to discuss my future, we will do that at the right time.

“Now focus on winning titles and then we will see what happens.”

Bruno Fernandes has already praised Ruben Amorim

As a Sporting fan and former player, Bruno Fernandes loves the work Amorim is doing in Lisbon.

Though Fernandes would prefer him to stay at Sporting, he recently said he has all the skills to be a success in the Premier League.

“If he really takes the next step – I hope he stays at Sporting – but if he takes the next step, I think the qualities are all there to be able to succeed in English, French, or Spanish football,” Fernandes told SportTV.

“Obviously, we know that the Premier League is probably the most desired. The qualities (to succeed in England) are there. And he (Amorim) has everything to take the next step, in my opinion.

“But it will depend of the clubs, the directors, whether they want to pay the Sporting’s release clause or not. There are many components.

“But I think that the manager Ruben Amorim is prepared for the next leap.”
