Cracking Easter event by Banham Village Community Hub is a smash hit in the village

Families were treated to an Easter fun day last weekend thanks to the Banham Village Community Hub group.

The free event, which included a bunny trail, crafts and an art exhibition, took place on March 30.

The group run by Pam Spicer, her husband David and Phil Banks as well as some volunteers started the hub group, which is based at the Banham Community Centre in Kenninghall Road, in December 2022 when they set up warm space in the village.

Now the group runs a community cafe every Wednesday on the site, workshops and events such as a free Christmas meal which saw 52 people attend, to bring the village together.

About the Easter event, Pam Spicer of the group, said: “It went very well, we had around 130 people come to the day, which got really busy, and everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves.”

The fun day had a trail around the village where people had to hunt down 15 bunnies, Easter crafts such as making twirly chicks and bouncy bunnies, a prize draw and an art exhibition organised by artist, Syvlie Maney.

Mrs Spicer said: “The villagers, church, school, parish council, local businesses and the Norfolk Community Foundation really came together to make this a very special event as well as the Banham Community Centre who let us use the space – this is what our work as the hub is all about.

“This was such a fully inclusive event and none of it would have been possible without the community supporting us, so we thank everyone for that.”
