‘Let’s be honest’: Pundit says Liverpool have made a better signing than Declan Rice

Declan Rice has to be considered one of the best signings in the Premier League this season.

The England international has taken to life at Arsenal like a duck to water.

Rice has been utterly brilliant since joining the Gunners, and he may well end up helping Arsenal win a Premier League title this season.

However, speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol has been discussing who is the Signing of the Season in the Premier League, and he reckons that Liverpool have made a better signing that the Arsenal midfielder this season.

The Liverpool signing that’s better than Declan Rice

Nicol spoke about who he believes is the Signing of the Season, and he mentioned Alexis Mac Allister.

“It has to be either Palmer or Mac Allister, the money has to come into it. Let’s be honest, you’ve paid £100m for Rice, he better be doing his job, he better be for £100m. That has nothing to do with Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez not doing their jobs for £100m, but at the end of the day it’s £100m. Palmer and Mac Allister went for around the same money, I’m a bit biased but Mac Allister has been involved in the game for 90 minutes, while Palmer can disappear at times,” Nicol said.

Alexis Mac Allister has been the bargain of the season

Whether or not Mac Allister is a better player than Rice is up for debate, but the fact that you can even have that debate makes him a better signing.

Mac Allister cost a fraction of the price of Rice, and in terms of value for money, there’s no argument to be made here.

For just £35m, Mac Allister has to be considered one of the great modern bargains in the Premier League, that’s for sure.
