Bruno Guimaraes posts three-word message to Newcastle fans after botched knee slide celebration today

Newcastle United gave their hopes of European qualification a huge boost with a 1-0 Premier League win away at Fulham on Saturday.

Toon Army fan favourite Bruno Guimaraes was once again the man of the hour, scoring the winner for Eddie Howe’s Magpies in London.

It wasn’t particularly straightforward for a Newcastle outfit sporting a makeshift back four and with yet another player going off injured.

Nevertheless, the Magpies got on the scoresheet, dug deep and held out for all three points, stretching their unbeaten league run to three games.

Not long after Fabian Schar had an effort ruled out for a foul in the build-up, Bruno fired home from inside the box after a half-clearance from the Cottagers.

There was a moment of concern among Newcastle fans after Bruno’s 81st minute goal, however. The Brazilian attempted a knee slide, but proceeded to topple over instead.

That said, Bruno got up without a hitch and continued celebrating, and after the game, he sought to reassure fans further that he was alright.

Bruno took to X after a fan told him that his knee slides “may need some work”, laughing it off and replying “I’m fine guys!”.

It’s great to hear that Bruno is fine, but at the same time, you can’t blame Newcastle fans for being overprotective of their talisman.

The 26-year-old has been consistently great for the team, including this season with so much wear and tear around the squad.

With at least 11 Magpies players currently on the sidelines and still so much to play for, Newcastle need to tread carefully between now and the end of the season.

The Magpies are back in Premier League action next Saturday, hosting Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park in the day’s early kick-off.
