Table-topping £116m star now on 14 goals and 18 assists for the season, amid reports Liverpool want to sign him

Liverpool have a huge summer ahead as they look to ensure continuity all across the board after Jurgen Klopp leaves Anfield.

Indeed, the Reds and owners Fenway Sports Group have been busy making backroom additions in recent months.

FSG have appointed Michael Edwards as their new CEO of Football, who in turn has secured the signature of Richard Hughes as the new Liverpool new sporting director, starting in summer.

Although a new manager will be top of the agenda, the Reds will likely also look at bringing in some on-pitch reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

One player Liverpool have been linked with in recent months is Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who has enjoyed an absolutely outstanding season in the Bundesliga.

In February, BILD reported that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City are showing the most interest in the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

How many goals and assists has Liverpool target Florian Wirtz registered this season?

Wirtz was in action for Leverkusen against Union Berlin and scored the winner to put Xabi Alonso’s side a step closer to the title.

The Germany international netted a penalty in first-half injury time, converting from the spot following Christopher Trimmel’s handball in the box.

Wirtz’s effort from 12 yards out has put him on 14 goals and 18 assists for the season, with four goals and one assist having come in his last four games.

Leverkusen are now just one win away from clinching their first ever Bundesliga title after Bayern Munich lost 3-2 at Heidenheim.

As one of the most exciting young players in the world, Wirtz won’t come cheap for the likes of Liverpool.

It has been reported that Leverkusen want at least €130million (£116million) to part company with the 20-year-old.

Let’s see what happens in the coming months. Admittedly, it would be a difficult transfer to pull off, but the Reds certainly have plenty of pull in the market.
