Report: 777 Partners could now sell Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in last-gasp Everton ‘rescue move’

This month promises to be a monumental one in the history of Everton Football Club.

After all, not only will they supposedly learn the outcome of their second PSR hearing, but also they should finally reach a conclusion on their proposed takeover at the hands of 777 Partners.

Having been handed a set of conditions to adhere to if they are to achieve Premier League approval, the ball is firmly in the Miami-based firm’s court now.

And, with this latest report, they are seemingly eyeing a rather questionable deal in order to satisfy one of those demands…

777 Partners could be given Everton lifeline

Writing on his Patreon earlier today, journalist Alan Nixon has suggested that MSP could be set to re-appear and invest in the club, but in a wholly different capacity.

He writes: ‘Everton super fans Andy Bell and George Downing are ready to make a rescue move to save the club’s future. The duo are keen to strike an agreement with Americans 777 Partners that would see them take over the new ground at Bramley Dock.

‘And that would allow 777’s bid for ownership of the club although they would only become tenants when they eventually leave Goodison.

‘Bell is big in the pensions and finance world while Swiss-based Scouser Downing has massive property interests. They have been allies for years. The pair are owed millions from ‘777 Partners after ploughing in cash. They would waive that huge sum in return for the stadium.

‘A deal would also meet one of the main requirements laid down by the Premier League before they pass the 777 takeover.

‘Current owner Farhad Moshiri could even become one of the partners who have a stake in the ground which is going to be used for many events and not just football.

‘It would leave Everton’s next owners as guests at the new ground but that may be the best way out of their present problems. Bell and Downing are not keen on owning and funding the club although they would step in if 777 ran into trouble down the line.’

Bramley-Moore Dock is supposed to be Everton’s financial saviour

Whilst the finer details are yet to be disclosed on this proposed deal, should it take revenue away from the club, it could prove disastrous.

After all, the whole point of moving into the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, aside from upgrading from the admittedly out-of-date Goodison Park, was to offer a much-improved stream of revenue with which the club could take that next step.

For many years under Farhad Moshiri, as they spent freely and without thought, they must have known it either had to work spectacularly or it would have hamstrung them in the way it is currently doing.

So, still trying to crawl to safety once again, this new stadium has offered hope that with 12,000 more seats amongst numerous other avenues to explore, it would provide some much-needed fiscal freedom.

Not if those options are sold though, handed over to the highest bidder in order to obtain a quick buck.

Given the drain its construction has had on the club, it really would not have been worth it, just to attain a lump sum and continue in the same miserable cycle.

Hopefully, should this report prove to be true, it has certain permutations that do not limit the club’s progression and financial support.
