Sky reporter now shares what he noticed about Man City's players in training today ahead of Real Madrid clash

How the Manchester City players looked ahead of their contest against Real Madrid on Tuesday has come to the fore.

It would be natural for both sets of players to be feeling a range of emotions ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

City’s players would perhaps be excited for the contest, as they have a chance to send a statement to the rest of Europe’s elite at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Real Madrid players would be united by a feeling of determination to showcase their class as they host Manchester City at their patch.

Both sets of players would likely also be nervous due to the stage they are playing at and how brilliant the other team in question is.

However, world-class performers in both teams would also be relishing to compete against the very best once again.

It is fair to state that both Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti have many players of such a calibre to choose from.

How Manchester City players looked in training ahead of Real Madrid clash

Several players for City will be hoping to make themselves heroes by stepping up with a memorable performance in one of the most historic stadiums in the history of football.

After all, the first leg at the Bernabeu ended in a 1-1 draw where certain Sky Blues players were not as terrific as they were in the second leg at their 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

To put in a performance for the ages in front of a packed Santiago Bernabeu crowd can turn top players into legends of the game.

Such is the prestige that comes with playing there and that too in a massive Champions League game; a prospect that the City players will be well aware of.

Now, a revelation has been made about the mood in the English giants’ camp.

Reporter Peter Lawrenson has made this revelation about what he gauged from watching the Manchester City players in training on Monday ahead of their contest against Real Madrid.

“I got the impression today just watching training for 15 minutes this morning that City’s players were just relishing going deep into the competition again.”

“Physically and mentally, they are looking good. Great win at the weekend and today the likes of [Kevin] De Bruyne and [Jack] Grealish, whose seasons have been a little bit disrupted by injury, they looked to be right in the thick of it and enjoying the moment. [Erling] Haaland is there too, of course”, he said [via Sky Sports News].

Manchester City players seem to be in the perfect headspace

Manchester City fans would be delighted to discover that their beloved players seem to be relishing the prospect of facing Real Madrid during training.

While City have earned the right to play amongst the best, it is also a massive honour to compete at the elite level in games like the one on Tuesday.

It would be completely fair for the Sky Blues cohort to be feeling the nerves but they seem to be up for the challenge, which is the first step to potentially taking down a European juggernaut.

Especially when big players like Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish seemingly looked up for it, as per Peter Stevenson’s revelation.
