Former Watford striker has now said how he would feel playing for Tottenham Hotspur under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham go into the weekend having climbed back up into the top four over the weekend after capitalising on Aston Villa’s poor result.

It has been a relatively positive week for Ange Postecoglou‘s side who took seven points from a possible nine since the international break.

Adding to that, the Lilywhites also seen Micky van de Ven return from injury much to the delight of the fans who shared their excitement on social media.

One area where The Spurs News have been told Tottenham are looking to address this summer is up top with new forwards being eyed.

Postecoglou is still very much putting his own stamp on the squad he inherited at Tottenham as he implements his attacking philosophy.

The former striker Troy Deeney has now provided his opinion on whether he could see himself playing in the current Spurs side under the guidance of Postecoglou.

Deeney says whether he’d like to play for Tottenham after their interest in 2020

Spurs have now scored the fifth most goals in the Premier League (65) this season with their north London rivals only 10 ahead at the top.

But Spurs have had to do so following the loss of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich and with Richarlison‘s injury issues.

During the international break, Richarlison admitted he had still been struggling with the issue that has kept him out for a while now.

The former Watford player who has already admitted Tottenham showed interest in him in 2020 during Jose Mourinho’s time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“He [Jose Mourinho] wanted me to come in at Spurs, but they’ve got that [Carlos] Vinicius guy [lined up], they’re toying with that idea,” he said on the Filthy Fellas podcast.

Now Deeney finds himself on the Match of the Day sofa having been sacked from his managerial role with Forest Green Rovers.

And speaking on Match of the Day 2 on Sunday night, the 25-year-old has admitted he’d like to play for this current Spurs side.

“This is Ange football. They get everybody in the box, even at 2-1 you think just see it out, but James Maddison is breaking away and you can see as this develops now the holding midfield player in Bentancur comes in now, and then just behind are the left-back and the right-back right next to the striker. It’s a hell of a hit from Porro,” Deeney said.

“The change they have done in this short six or seven months has put them ahead of United and many other teams. It’s exciting to watch and that’s what Spurs’s brand of football has historically been all about. I think with this manager, they will attract a lot of players.

“Even now we are saying we want to play for someone like that. As a defender you are saying oh I will get a chance to score here. So I think they have a wonderful opportunity.”

Ange Postecoglou says whether Tottenham will replace Harry Kane

One of the big questions coming into the season was how Spurs were going to deal with losing their record goalscorer.

The answer has been pretty well with Heung-min Son showing some of the best form of his career.

However, Postecoglou has now said that the club will never be able to replace the hole which Kane will leave behind with just one signing.

“It’s essential [spreading the goals] because we were never going to replace Harry with somebody who’s going to score that volume of goals, those kinds of players just don’t exist,” Postecoglou said.

“So, for us, it was then about the collective and how we can bridge that gap.”
