Leicester City player ratings v Millwall as two players get 3/10

Leicester City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Millwall in the capital on Tuesday evening.

Enzo Maresca‘s side failed to create anything of note in a pretty dull Championship affair that was decided by one piece of Millwall brilliance.

Leicester had a number of below-par performers with only one player really standing out.

Here are the player ratings for the game…

Mads Hermansen – 5

Crucial in building out from the back, Mads Hermansen was hardly called into action and couldn’t do anything about the opener.

Ricardo Pereira – 7

Ricardo Pereira was involved in absolutely everything, from making crucial blocks at the back to surging City forward.

He had a great opportunity to level the scores late on but his effort was well saved by Matija Sarkic.

Wout Faes – 3

Wout Faes gave the ball away for Millwall’s goal, he claimed a foul but the referee waved play on before Ryan Longman dispatched a stunning curling effort into the top corner.

Turned too easily by Michael Obafemi not long after which almost led to a second goal for the hosts.

Jannik Vestergaard – 5

Assured in possession and didn’t have too much to think about defensively.

Callum Doyle – 5

Was always trying to play the forward ball and his crosses looked threatening.

Wilfred Ndidi – 4

Lacked quality in the final third but was a willing runner before coming off in place of Dennis Praet.

Harry Winks – 5

Booked very harshly in the first half for a challenge on Obafemi so had to walk a tightrope for the remainder of the game.

Harry Winks was tidy in possession, as he so often is.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 5

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made two well-weighted passes to Stephy Mavididi and Jamie Vardy in the first half, who both failed to finish.

Wasn’t involved much in the second period.

Yunus Akgun – 4

Yunus Akgun squandered a great opportunity to play Vardy in on goal and was pretty ineffective before being dragged off for Abdul Fatawu on the hour mark.

Jamie Vardy – 4

Vardy was hardly involved for much of the encounter, though, in fairness, he wasn’t really given any service.

Stephy Mavididi – 6

Overran a great chance inside the first 10 minutes when Dewsbury-Hall played him in behind the Millwall defence.

Mavididi huffed and puffed in the second half and was Leicester’s only real outlet for much of it, even if he didn’t get the better of Millwall’s right-back Ryan Leonard.

Abdul Fatawu – 6

Brought on in place of Akgun with 30 minutes remaining, Fatawu missed a half-chance when Ndidi hooked a ball back to the far post.

He set up Kelechi Iheanacho in stoppage time after beating his man all ends up but the Nigeria international couldn’t convert.

Kelechi Iheanacho – 5

Joined the action as a second-half substitute and almost levelled the score in stoppage time had it not been for an incredible clearance.

Dennis Praet – 5

Another second-half substitute, Dennis Praet linked up play well when he came on.

James Justin – 5

Tried to make things happen going forward without any real success.

Patson Daka – 3

Entered the pitch with a few minutes of the 90 remaining and headed wide a golden opportunity to equalise.

A decisive moment not capitalised on.
