48-year-old manager should be the man to replace Pochettino at Chelsea, he could be another Tuchel - opinion

It is going to be really interesting to see who Chelsea’s manager is this summer.

On a two-year contract and currently overseeing a team sitting in ninth, Mauricio Pochettino‘s job at Stamford Bridge does not look completely safe.

In an ideal world, if the Argentine were to be sacked, Chelsea would just bring back Thomas Tuchel.

The German, of course, won the club their second Champions League trophy and is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season. But after being dismissed by the Blues in 2022, a return seems unlikely.

Should Tuchel be fully off the table, then, Chelsea turning to Serie A for a new manager would not be the worst idea.

Chelsea have been linked with two Serie A managers

Chelsea are thought to have some interest in at least two men currently working in Serie A.

It has been claimed that the Blues like Bologna’s Thiago Motta, while there has also been talk about the club being keen on Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi.

The problem with Inzaghi, though, is that he could be about to sign a new contract with the Nerazzurri.

Speaking about his future last month, the Italian said: “I’m happy here at Inter. I feel good with the board and fans. About my contract, we’re going to meet after this season to discuss the extension but the relationship is really great. Talks will be good.”

If a fresh deal is not signed, though, and Chelsea do find themselves in a position where they need to bring in a new manager, then Inzaghi could be their man.

Simeone Inzaghi could be another Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea

Chelsea’s punts on Pochettino and Graham Potter have clearly not worked out.

No more gambles now. Their next appointment has to be a winner, something that Inzaghi is proving to be at Inter.

It looks like the 48-year-old is going to guide his side to the Serie A title this season. They currently hold a 14-point lead at the top of the table.

Inzaghi has also taken this Inter team to a Champions League final, where they narrowly lost out to Manchester City last term, and won two Italian Cups at the club.

His preferred formation consists of three central defenders as well, a set-up Tuchel used during his time at Chelsea.

On that note, maybe Inzaghi could have a similar impact to the Bayern boss. Right now, he looks like a serious manager.
