Report: ‘Exceptional’ Chelsea player now really close to returning from injury, he could play against Everton

Reports have stated that one Chelsea player is now approaching a return from injury in the coming days.

According to Football London, the player in question actually has a chance of being recalled to the squad for their next Premier League game against Everton.

Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side plagued with injuries throughout this season, and the defence in particular has hardly had two games in a row where they have been able to use the same players.

Recently, Levi Colwill has been on the sidelines due to a toe injury suffered not long after he started the EFL Cup final for the Blues against Liverpool.

It seems he has been missed dearly at the back, with Chelsea conceding two goals minimum every game they play right now.

His passing is another big strength of his, being described as ‘exceptional’ earlier this season by Jamie Redknapp.

Levi Colwill close to injury return

It had been reported that the England international wastargeting a return towards the end of this month when the Blues were back in FA Cup action against Manchester City at Wembley.

However, it has now been claimed that he could well be ahead of this schedule, and potentially available as early as Monday night.

The Blues take on relegation-threatened Everton, who will need to show a reaction to being docked two more points by the Premier League in the week leading up to the game.

Mauricio Pochettino under pressure

As for Chelsea and Pochettino, they will need to start consistently putting three points on the board in order to save any hope of qualifying for European football next season.

The boss is no doubt under pressure to deliver this to the owners, with it more than likely his status as manager of the club relies on it.

Their other route to doing this is via the aforementioned FA Cup, however as well as beating Manchester City they will likely need to take down Manchester United at Wembley too.
