In a recent interview, Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has shared his disappointment over one “rubbish” thing he did.
For Manchester United, the word legend means more than it does to most other clubs, given the sheer amount of players who have achieved that level for the club.
This isn’t because standards are low at Old Trafford either, as the standards are probably higher than anywhere else to be a legend.
But due to winning such a vast amount of silverware, there are just so many undeniable legends in the books of United history.
Two of these legends, Bryan Robson and Eric Cantona however will have one moment they regret in their post-playing days.

In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Robson was discussing his views on Kobbie Mainoo, but also on the role he played in one recruitment blunder.
It was in relation to the Jude Bellingham blow United had when he refused an Old Trafford move for Borussia Dortmund in 2020.
“It was really disappointing,” Robson began to explain.
“We were at Carrington and Sir Alex Ferguson was there a little earlier than I was, but Eric and I met him, and his mum and dad, and we were chatting away.
“It was really looking promising that he was going to be signing for Manchester United… me and Eric did a rubbish job as he signed for Borussia! We thought we had him in the bag!”
This transfer failure is probably one of the most famous of the past decade at Old Trafford, but going forward this should be something which improves.
Going forward one thing must change about Manchester United’s recruitment
While it’s great to have so many club legends, using them to try and convince a player like Bellingham who was born after both retired, doesn’t seem like the best idea.
It was shown not to work as well, with Bellingham instead opting for Dortmund which is a notoriously good project club for youngsters.
So going forward, United need to sell the club to potential signings based on the future and current rather than the past which is what most players will be more keen to hear.
Hopefully, this changes under Ineos so we are better positioned to sign top talents going forward.
