Brennan Johnson blown away by how fast £15m Tottenham player actually is

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson has admitted one player has wowed him with his speed since joining in the summer.

The Welshman made the move to north London from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth in the region of £47.5m.

It was not the easiest of starts for Brennan Johnson at Tottenham after taking until November to find the back of the net.

However, he is now up and running and has seen the likes of Glenn Hoddle shower him in praise over recent weeks.

Johnson has now been able to tally up five goals and seven assists in the Premier League and is looking to be a real key figure for Ange Postecoglou.

But the 22-year-old has now admitted there is someone else who he feels is impressing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And, in particular, this player’s speed is something which has really blown Johnson away since landing in north London.

Johnson admits one player at Spurs is really impressing him with his speed

The Tottenham attack has been a well oiled machine for the large part of the season under Postecoglou.

It has to be remembered this is a club who lost their all-time record goalscorer over the summer after Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich.

Heung-min Son has been critical to Tottenham’s development this season having maintained his high standards under the new regime.

However, it is not the lightning quick South Korean who Johnson said he has been wowed by.

It is, in fact, Timo Werner who the Welshman has been waxing lyrical about with the pair beginning to form somewhat of a strong partnership.

Operating from either side of the front line, the two wingers have combined on a number of occasions now to find the back of the net.

And speaking with Stadium Astro, the 22-year-old has hailed the German’s attributes after he arrived in the January window.

“I think as a player as soon as he came in, I kind of knew what player he was at. He probably didn’t know as well about me. I think he he’s obviously a player that I knew about and I know his qualities. He was so fast and, and good on both feet,” he said.

“So I think when he gets the ball recently and kind of takes it down the line, I felt like I have to be in the position because he’s so fast. I have to be able to catch up with him and it’s the same one that was hard when he when I got the ball and looked across it. He’s always in the right areas.”

Those at Hotspur Way are also impressed by something they’ve noticed from Timo Werner

It is not just Johnson who has been left impressed with Werner as some people behind the scenes at Hotspur Way have also noticed something impressive.

Since landing in the winter window, Werner has produced a real threat down the wing having racked up two goals and three assists.

Here is a run down of Werner’s goal contributions in a Spurs shirt.

However, journalist Alasdair Gold has admitted those at Spurs have also hailed the German’s personality.

“I’ve been speaking to a lot of people within the club about him, whether that’s, you know, his teammates, coaching staff, people just in various departments. They all say the same thing. Just what a really lovely down to earth guy is. There’s no ego there,” Gold said.

Spurs have until 14 June to decide whether they are going to sign Werner permanently for £15m.
