Sean Dyche starts £90k-a-week winger, 22-year-old player returns to start: Predicted Everton XI vs Chelsea

Everton are back in Premier League action again soon, but funnily enough, not this weekend.

As concerned about the match-going fans as ever, the division saw fit to move the clash to next Monday, meaning staunch Evertonians will be forced to make the arduous trip to west London and back across potentially two working days.

Football for the fans, eh?

But regardless, the Toffees will still bring a passionate following, as they always do. It is ridiculous the support this club receives given what they have served up for fans over recent years.

Sean Dyche will have been content with his last two results against Burnley and Newcastle United, so will likely not want to change much.

However, some key returning faces might tempt him.

Predicted Everton XI for Premier League trip to Chelsea

We are expecting the 52-year-old to make just two changes from the side that laboured to victory on Saturday.

However, none of those will likely be made to the back four, with Jordan Pickford an undroppable mainstay at the moment.

He probably enjoyed one of the quietest games of his career last weekend, hugely aided by the exploits of Seamus Coleman, James Tarkowski, Vitally Mykolenko and Jarrad Branthwaite in particular.

It would be a real surprise if any of this quartet were replaced.

However, in the engine room, this game could come at the perfect time to welcome Amadou Onana back into the starting side, having missed the game against Burnley.

The 22-year-old ruled himself out of contention, having claimed he was too sore after training. However, that will surely be a problem eased now, allowing him to slot in alongside James Garner.

His reemergence will then allow Andre Gomes to push further forward, having also impressed last time out whilst Abdoulaye Doucoure underwhelmed.

The Portuguese maestro could provide that touch of quality needed to unlock a Chelsea side that can be troubled, and he will seek to supply a front three only slightly altered.

Although Ashley Young was not terrible against the Clarets, he will likely make way for Jack Harrison purely due to the pace that the on-loan Leeds United man will offer on the break.

Everton are unlikely to see much of the ball on Monday, and so having someone with the dynamism of the £90k-a-week winger will be integral in potentially troubling Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Dwight McNeil will operate on the opposite flank, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be hoping to cap off his resurgence with another goal.

Were he to score at Stamford Bridge on Monday, it would mark three goals in as many Premier League games for the 27-year-old. He has not achieved that feat since the start of the 2021/22 season, before injury curtailed that campaign.
