Sheffield Wednesday fans all say the same thing amid Simon Jordan takeover claim

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has suggested he’d been interested in taking over Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday are in dire straits, both on and off the field right now.

Off it, they’re battling relegation from the Championship with just four games of the season left to play.

And off it, the club lacks a long-term strategy, and lacks investment, with controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri a huge source of criticism among fans.

Speaking on talkSPORT this week, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan suggested that Sheffield Wednesday would be a club he’d personally invest in.

He said:

“In my book, one of the questions I’m asking myself is, if I was to buy another football club, which one would I buy?

“One of the clubs I mentioned was Sheffield Wednesday because it’s got huge potential.

“It’s a huge area, it’s got huge catchment, it’s got a huge support base, it’s a proper football club in a proper area.

“If you wanted to build that football club and embrace the fans, you would be able to achieve it.

“If you wanted to have help with the training ground, you wouldn’t be having local planning permission from the council in London saying you can’t do this because someone somewhere with a telescope can’t see their view.”

Jordan is a divisive figure in punditry.

He’s often got a strong opinion, but his views on Sheffield Wednesday and it’s potential don’t seem to be incorrect.

Wednesday does feel like a sleeping giant in the Football League and with a proper owner and proper investment, the club could really prevail.

But Wednesday fans, on the whole, don’t want the controversial Jordan coming in and replacing Chansiri.
