Tottenham handed Ivan Toney transfer boost as director makes Spurs signing admission

Catch a round-up of the latest Tottenham news, including updates on Ivan Toney, Djed Spence and Antonio Nusa transfers.

Ivan Toney transfer price

Tottenham could land Brentford striker Ivan Toney for a lower transfer price than expected in the summer window.

The England international is entering the final year of his contract with the Bees, with speculation rife surrounding his next club.

Previous reports surrounding the price of a potential transfer have been upwards of £50million at least, however that may have changed.

That’s because, according to Florian Plettenberg, Toney could leave Brentford for as little as £30million-£40million this summer.

While Spurs have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, they aren’t the only ones showing interest as Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham are also rumoured with a switch.

Djed Spence transfer admission

Genoa sporting director Marco Ottolini has discussed the possibility of signing Djed Spence on a permanent deal from Tottenham this summer.

The full-back has struggled for minutes at Spurs since joining from Middlesbrough, leading to a loan switch to Leeds United.

That didn’t quite work out, resulting in a return to the club before joining Genoa for the remainder of the current campaign.

With his future in north London uncertain, Ottolini admitted that he would like to see Spence join his side permanently.

“I speak with Djed every week. We have created a good environment for him,” he told CaughtOffside. “We are trying to make him feel warm and welcome here, and this will then translate into his performances on the pitch.

“We want to give him the right conditions to perform. We still have seven games to go and we want to see what he can do. Personally, I like Djed and how he is doing, and how he is training.

“Of course, he can do more, and he knows this, but we are in contact with Spurs and will evaluate a deal over the next few months giving us time to understand our both position and Djed’s perspective on potentially staying here.”

Tottenham scouting mission

Tottenham are continuing to compile reports on potential transfer targets ahead of the upcoming summer window.

One of those players of interest that has been linked with a switch is 18-year-old Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Spurs had scouts in attendance for the Belgian side’s clash with PAOK in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Lilywhites have shown an impressive track record of picking up young players in the transfer market and bringing them into the first-team.
