Tottenham monitoring potential swoop for £43m forward who completes more dribbles than Heung-min Son

Tottenham Hotspur are now monitoring a summer move for a forward who is in high demand across the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have placed themselves in a favourable position ahead of their game on the weekend against Newcastle United.

Tottenham have taken seven points from a possible nine since the return from the international break.

And that has saw Spurs climb into the top four above Aston Villa with Champions League qualification looking a real possibility.

There is the expectation that Spurs could finish fifth and still qualify for the elite European competition through UEFA’s new coefficient rule.

But it is apparent Daniel Levy and Postecoglou are not looking to dwell on their impressive season with quality summer arrivals expected.

And it seems there is one young forward who is really catching the eye of those at Hotspur Way.

Spurs monitoring move for winger with £43m release clause this summer

This season has already seen Spurs add some attacking to talent to their squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou has already greenlit the arrivals of Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner with the German expected to be signed permanently over the summer for £15m.

Both players have had a strong start to life in north London. Here is a summary of how they’ve gotten on so far.

However, it does not seem as if Tottenham are content with their current options with more depth needed ahead of a season in Europe.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs are just one of the Premier League sides who are monitoring the situation of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

It is believed the 21-year-old has a release clause of around £43m which can be activated this summer.

But the likes of Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the Spaniard ahead of the transfer window as Bilbao are already looking to bring in a potential replacement.

Interesting Nico Williams stat that shows he could compete with Heung-min Son

The 21-year-old operates from the left wing – the same as Heung-min Son – which would create some serious competition for places.

Son has been in fine form this season having provided 23 goal contributions in the Premier League alone.

Williams has offered Bilbao with six goals and 14 assists across all competitions as well as recently lifting the Copa Del Rey.

However, according to Fbref, Williams (46.6%) is outperforming Son (45.5%) in terms of successful take-ons this season.

It has to be remembered that Williams is only 21, so perhaps he is viewed as the long-term successor for Son,31, who is still expected to ink a new contract in north London.
