Sean Dyche must start 26-year-old Everton player vs Chelsea, he could be back from injury - opinion

With Everton back in action again soon, there will be plenty of pressure heaped on their trip to Chelsea should those around them claim results.

After all, they play on the Monday, and so will be the final fixture of that match week.

Luton Town, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Crystal Palace are all due to play across Saturday and Sunday, with some facing one another whilst others will endure tough tasks against top opposition.

Hopefully, by the time the Toffees’ game rolls around, a favourable set of results leaves Sean Dyche feeling confident in alleviating pressure and causing an upset at Stamford Bridge.

Arnaut Danjuma could be fit for Chelsea

However, if he is to do so, his side will have to perform better than they have been of late.

Even if they have picked up four points from their last two games, neither their trip to Newcastle United nor their clash with Burnley saw them come away feeling like they had merited a draw and a win.

And whilst they will not care, this marks an unsustainable practice.

They need to start putting their chances away, and especially against a side with the quality of Chelsea, even if they are struggling, they’ll be punished if they don’t.

Fortunately, they are now set to be blessed with a returning figure; Arnaut Danjuma is set to be back from injury.

Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil have been struggling

Although McNeil may have got Goodison Park on its feet with one lung-busting bit of pressure deep into the second half on Saturday, it was unfortunately another poor outing for the former Burnley man.

A player never to be accused of shirking his defensive responsibilities, although he is often guilty of jumping out of hefty tackles, for the most part, he remains an industrious and unrelenting winger who is perfect for Dyche.

But, offensively he has been struggling, with his last open play assist coming back in December against Manchester City.

Jack Harrison is suffering from a similar issue, and has even been reduced to a spot on the bench in recent weeks, usurped by a 38-year-old Ashley Young.

So, there is surely a better option that Dyche could consult, and with Danjuma potentially back he would offer just that.

He has experience beyond most others in the dressing room and form both in elite European competitions and in England.

Should he be fit, a run of games could do the 26-year-old Dutchman the world of good, and allow him to hopefully fire Everton to safety.
