'Playing out of his skin': Peter Crouch admits he absolutely loves 24-year-old Newcastle star right now

Former Premier League striker Peter Crouch is blown away by how well one Newcastle United player is doing right now.

While the Magpies are currently without multiple key players due to injury, they do still have some major stars leading their quest to qualify for Europe.

It was Bruno Guimaraes leading the charge last weekend, as he scored the winner against Fulham in a game where Newcastle were far from their best.

Eddie Howe also has Anthony Gordon at the top of his game, and the 23-year-old has looked really good since making his England debut last month.

They are two of Newcastle United’s best players right now, but it is another star who has caught the attention of Peter Crouch.

Peter Crouch blown away by Newcastle United star lately

Crouch, who previously admitted he wanted to play for Newcastle, has been speaking about the Magpies on the latest episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast.

The 43-year-old discussed the current form of Alexander Isak, who is Newcastle’s top scorer this season.

“I love Isak at the moment,” he said.

“Scored five in his last five. Playing out of his skin. Love him as a footballer.”

Peter Crouch is right about Alexander Isak

Crouch is spot on about Alexander Isak. The 24-year-old really is at the top of his game right now.

As the former England forward says, Isak has scored five goals in his last five Premier League games. His last goal came in the 1-1 draw with Everton at St James’ Park, as he took his tally for the season to 19.

It is the best goal-scoring campaign of Isak’s career, and there are still seven games left for him to score even more goals. It feels inevitable that he will smash the 20-goal milestone, which is something he has never done in his career before.

The Sweden international also still has a chance of winning the Premier League Golden Boot. Isak is currently the joint-sixth top scorer in the division, and is four goals behind leader Erling Haaland. It is unlikely that he will catch him, but it remains an outside possibility.

Isak truly is playing out of his skin at the moment, and that is reflected by the goals he is scoring. The finish against Everton was sublime, as was the one against Chelsea during the 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
