Report: Tottenham now set to have £26m bid accepted for wonderkid after shock offer

Tottenham are embarking on a fascinating recruitment drive under Scott Munn and Johan Lange.

Not only are senior options being targeted to improve Ange Postecoglou’s squad, but there is also a focus on hoovering up the best of the next generation.

Spurs impressively beat Barcelona to the signing of Lucas Bergvall back in January – a teenage talent who has actually been compared to Jude Bellingham.

Now – according to rumours in Spain – Tottenham are set to pinch a precocious talent directly from Barcelona as well…

Tottenham set to have bid accepted for Barcelona wonderkid

Well, this is quite the claim from e-notícies in Spain.

The Spanish news outlet believe Tottenham have just made a €30m (£26m) bid to sign Barcelona wonderkid Pablo Torre.

E-notícies explain how the offer has left Barcelona shocked, as it was completely unexpected.

However, the Spanish giants are actually delighted to see the bid arrive, as sales are needed before any improvements on the starting XI can be made in the market this summer.

Barcelona have been hoping to offload promising talents like Torre rather than sell any superstars, so e-notícies describe Joan Laporta – President at the Camp Nou – as being pleased by the bid, despite still viewing Torre as a top prospect.

The Spanish news outlet add that Barcelona will accept the offer and hope to wrap up negotiations quickly – with a meeting set to take place soon to finalise the agreement.

Torre – who is currently on loan at Girona – has made 21 appearances in La Liga so far this season, providing two assists from central midfield.

Who is Pablo Torre?

If this rumour is true, Tottenham will be getting themselves a superb footballer.

Torre – aged 21 – has been called a “natural talent” who “scores goals” by Xavi, with e-notícies even comparing him to Barcelona No.8 Pedri, one of the best young midfielders on the planet right now.

Of course, the Spain U21 international will have to work hard to get ahead of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, James Maddison and Bergvall in the midfield department at Tottenham.

Nevertheless, competition for places in football keeps everyone on their toes, and can only be a good thing for Postecoglou.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation – by the sounds of it, Tottenham are about to sign Torre as Barcelona prepare to accept the £26m bid.
