2 students, driver hospitalized in 4-vehicle crash involving pair of N.J. school buses

Two children were hurt Thursday when two vehicles collided with two school buses that had just left an elementary school in Passaic County, authorities said.

The crash, which involved two buses from Paradise Knolls Elementary School, occurred about 2:49 p.m. on Route 23 South at the intersection of Paradise Road in West Milford, according to police.

An investigation showed a car was stopped at the Paradise Road traffic light when it was struck from behind by an SUV.

The car was pushed into the intersection and struck one bus, while the SUV overturned and struck the second bus.

The driver of one vehicle was taken to a local hospital with “unspecified injuries,” police said. One child was taken by ambulance to the hospital for head pain. Another child was taken to the hospital by a parent, according to police.

The conditions of the injured were not immediately available Friday morning. Police said the crash remains under investigation.
