'From what people tell me': Journalist shares how much money Newcastle want to make from player sales

Newcastle United may be set to rebuild this summer.

While FFP issues are believed to remain in play for Newcastle this summer, there have been reports predicting a big summer of change at St James’ Park.

Still, despite the many millions PIF have on offer, spending it may not be so easy.

Indeed, the club were unable to sign anyone during the January transfer window and the budget even last summer reportedly didn’t stretch as far as signing the central defender Newcastle were targeting.

With that in mind, players have been tipped to leave as the club look to raise funds.

Bruno Guimaraes is surely the headline example of that. Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly grown in confidence about signing the Brazilian amid a reported acceptance behind the scenes that he may have to go in order to fund a rebuild.

Miguel Almiron is another to have been touted for an exit, as well as Callum Wilson.

Now, some insight into what the club are hoping to make in player sales has emerged.

How much money Newcastle are hoping to make through player sales this summer

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the club are looking to raise between £30m-£50m in player sales this summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I still think, from what people tell me, that Newcastle will want 30 to 50 million in sales over the course of this summer, just so they can breathe a little bit easier.

“I suppose the renewal of Joelinton is the first clue of a player that they don’t want to put on the market, which reduces the list of how Newcastle can get to that 30 to 50 million.”

Newcastle have more sellable assets this summer

Last year, the only players of note who left for relatively significant sums of money were Allan Saint-Maximin and Chris Wood.

This time around, however, there would be appear to be more names who can attract buyers.

Almiron and Wilson are two and perhaps even Kieran Trippier, who was said to have been interested in a move to Bayern Munich in January.

Guimaraes of course is likely to attract a big fee, though its difficult to any kind of positive spin on him potentially leaving outside of that.

Hopefully, other players can leave and lessen the need for the Brazilian to go…
