N.J. woman dies 2 days after being struck in hit-and-run, officials say

A woman died Friday after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run earlier in the week, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

Rachel McNeil, 58, of Passaic died Friday from injuries sustained from being hit by a motor vehicle on Wednesday, officials said.

Passaic police were called to the intersection at Passaic Avenue and Aycrigg Avenue at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday night for a report of a person struck by a motor vehicle. Officers found McNeil at the scene and transported her to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where she was admitted in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

The vehicle that hit McNeil fled the scene.

The investigation is active and ongoing, officials said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
