Ange Postecoglou could now hand Spurs talent who's 'beautiful to watch' his ninth PL start of 23/24 today - opinion

Tottenham Hotspur will look to cement their hold on fourth place in the Premier League when they head to Newcastle United on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs take on Eddie Howe’s Magpies in the day’s early kick-off at St James’ Park.

Tottenham have been in decent form following the international break, picking up seven points from their last three games.

Spurs’ good results, combined with Aston Villa getting just four points from their last three matches, has seen Postecoglou’s side go fourth.

Now, Tottenham will hope to make it four games unbeaten when they take on eighth-placed Newcastle on Tyneside.

We’re likely to see Spurs’ starting XI remain unchanged for the most part, but we may well see a change or two in midfield.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr weren’t at their best against Nottingham Forest last week, and both were taken off at half time.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur came in, both impressing as Spurs went back in front and ended up winning 3-1.

Ange Postecoglou could potentially start Rodrigo Bentancur for Spurs at Newcastle

Bentancur provided plenty of energy and desire after coming on, and registered an assist to help Spurs make sure of all three points.

James Maddison’s cutback from the left was headed across the area by Bentancur towards Pedro Porro, who duly hammered home.

Saturday’s game could be a great opportunity for the 25-year-old to make just his ninth league start of the season and get more minutes under his belt.

Bentancur has suffered a number of major injury issues over the course of the season, and starting – and potentially getting 90 minutes – would be a boost as he looks to get back to his best.

The Uruguay international is an underrated talent who Ian Wright has deemed “beautiful to watch”, so it’d be good to see him get back in the starting picture.
