‘I just think’: Paul Merson predicts how Arsenal will fare vs Tottenham Hotspur

Paul Merson has predicted how Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will fare against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the North London derby.

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League later this month.

Spurs are aiming to finish fourth in the league table this season, while Arsenal are looking to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the title.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has backed the Gunners to pick up all three points from the North London derby against Spurs.

The Sky Sports pundit made the prediction while analysing the Premier League title race between Arsenal, Liverpool and City.

Paul Merson predicts Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal outcome

Merson said on Sky Sports, as transcribed by Metro: “Man City have got the fixtures but I wouldn’t want to be Man City, because I can win every game and still not win the league.

“Arsenal came back from their winter break and won nine out of ten. They can do it. They’ve got Chelsea at home, they’re a bag of Revels you don’t know what you’re going to get.

“I’m quite confident for Arsenal against Tottenham. It will be an end-to-end football match, I just think Arsenal are stronger in midfield and I think they win that game.

“The way Man United are playing, you saw them against Liverpool. Klopp said Arsenal will beat them if they play like that. And if Everton are safe, without being horrible that’s a given.

“They’re saying Liverpool are going to win tomorrow [against Crystal Palace]. I expect them to beat Fulham, I expect them to beat Everton – I know that’ll be a hard game.

“But I expect them to beat West Ham, I expect them to beat Tottenham. And then you’re talking two football matches to go.”

Tottenham Hotspur suffer setback ahead of North London derby

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a huge blow ahead of the North London derby against Arsenal.

Spurs took on Newcastle United away from home at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were hammered 4-0. Tottenham were defensively dire, and their high line did affect their overall performance.

Spurs are not in action again until the North London derby against Arsenal.

Tottenham have a tough run-in. After the match against Arsenal, Spurs will take on Chelsea, Liverpool, Burnley, Manchester City and Sheffield United.

Aston Villa will lock horns with Arsenal on Sunday. Unai Emery’s side are aiming to beat Tottenham to the fourth spot in the Premier League table this season.
