‘Not discussing a new deal’: 28-year-old star admits he could leave on a free amid Arsenal and Newcastle links

A player linked with a move to both Arsenal and Newcastle United this summer could now leave his current club on a free transfer.

Both Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe will be expecting to improve their squads this summer, even if they are in slightly different financial positions.

Whilst Newcastle may be forced to sell one of their stars, perhaps even Alexander Isak to Arsenal, the Gunners should have a lot of freedom in the market.

Having not spent in January, Mikel Arteta may hope that the club will invest a similar amount of money to last summer.

Of course, a late run to secure a Champions League spot could really help Newcastle’s situation.

Having dispatched Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 yesterday, Howe’s side are now 10 points behind Spurs and Aston Villa with six games to go.

It remains a massive task to catch either, but given their current form it certainly doesn’t seem impossible.

And whilst that potential qualification could really benefit the club’s income in the future, it could also help with one signing this summer.

Adrien Rabiot admits he could leave Juventus on a free transfer amid links to Arsenal and Newcastle

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been linked with both Arsenal and Newcastle this coming summer, given his contract is set to expire.

And with a new deal yet to be agreed, journalist Fabrizio Romano has just shared Rabiot’s latest words on his future over on X.

Champions League football seemed a significant factor in the Frenchman’s decision, even if he was just focused on securing that for Juventus right now.

Rabiot explained: “I’m not discussing a new deal with Juve yet. My target is to bring Juve into [the] Champions League again.

“If we get [a] UCL spot, we will see and talk. Even if I won’t be here next season, my desire is to see Juventus playing UCL again”.

Of course, a player of Rabiot’s quality would really improve both Arsenal and Newcastle’s squad, a player who would represent a bargain on a free transfer.

Perhaps the wages of the midfielder could be a stumbling block, with both club’s having their respective restrictions.

But with Bruno Guimaraes also being linked with a move away from Newcastle this summer, Rabiot could be a strong replacement, even if he’s not the same profile of midfielder.

Similarly, Rabiot could strengthen Arsenal’s midfield if the likes of Thomas Partey or Jorginho depart.

Certainly one to keep an eye for both sets of fans, who will also be intrigued to hear Martin Keown’s comments about Alexander Isak yesterday too.
