Newcastle United are in fine fettle right now.
Eddie Howe saw his side make it three wins from four since returning from the international break as Newcastle made light work of Tottenham at St James’ Park.
Where last week’s over Fulham started so badly in terms of performance that Howe had to hold harsh words with his players, they ran out 4-0 winners over a team chasing Champions League qualification.
It means Newcastle can surely consider themselves favourites in the race for the top six. They have a game in hand over West Ham and have already beaten their other rivals on that front – Manchester United – twice this season.
Their attacking players are in excellent form at the moment.
Alexander Isak is perhaps the Premier League’s form striker these days, while Anthony Gordon continues to shine.
Indeed, Elliot Anderson paid special mention to the pair after the game on Saturday.

Speaking to reporter Andy Sixsmith on X (formerly Twitter), Anderson said of Gordon and Isak: “We believe in each other and now it’s starting to show. Alex Isak is ridiculous, man. Every day in training he’s top. A pleasure to play with him and see him do what he does. Gordon is another one. Those two are playing amazing football.”

Clearly, Gordon and Isak are the ones attracting the headlines, while Bruno Guimaraes continues to excel.
Still, they aren’t the only players pulling their weight at the moment.
Howe has spoken in glowing terms about Dan Burn, while he has also praised Anderson for his impact since returning from injury.
The front players haven’t really been the issue this season. After all, only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have scored more in the Premier League than Newcastle’s 69.
It is the support players like Anderson who are helping Howe’s side finish the season very strongly indeed.
Gordon and Isak are the star names but the squad is proving the real asset at the moment, as decimated by injury as it has been.
