22-year-old Chelsea man needs a good performance tonight, Cole Palmer was fuming with him last week – opinion

Chelsea are in desperate need of returning to winning ways tonight in the Premier League when they welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are actually on their longest unbeaten run in all competitions in more than two years, however it is fair to say it has underwhelmed many.

For example, they dropped four points in the last three games to Sheffield United and Burnley, both at the foot of the table.

Last week in particular will have been a real blow at Bramall Lane, with it looking as if they were going to win the game as it went into added time.

Other thanNoni Madueke, it was actually a pretty underwhelming performance for the Blues as far as their attackers go, with Nicolas Jackson in particular failing to impress.

It has actually been a really positive spell for the 22-year-old since he returned from the African Cup of Nations, although against Sheffield United it was far from perfect.

With Chelsea supporters frustrated with what they were seeing, it did look as if star player Cole Palmer was echoing their annoyance.

While he was definitely not at his personal best, the England international was visibly angry with his teammate at one stage of that last game, and the attack need to get on the same wavelength in order to get a result tonight.

Their hopes at qualifying for any form of European football for next season is fading with every poor result right now, and anything other than three points tonight would also fall into that category.

It has been reported that Mykhailo Mudryk could be in line to start just his third Premier League game in 2024, with both Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernandez set to miss the game off the back of recent injury and illness worries.
