Multiple wildfires burning over 10-mile stretch in South Jersey, officials say

Multiple wildfires that were burning Monday evening over a 10-mile stretch of Winslow Township in Camden County were mostly contained, fire officials said.

The fires, which totaled just over 20, were in the area of Berlin-Cross Keys Road and Ancora State Hospital, according to a statement from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

As of 6:30 p.m. the fires were mostly contained.

They were sparked by a passing train, the service said.

No structures were threatened and there were no road closures in the area, authorities said.

Crews were still on the scene battling the blazes. A Single Engine Air Tanker plane that can drop up to 600 gallons of water at a time was assisting them, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
