Arsenal are not willing to pay the money to sign 'world-class' striker, he will not join them - journalist

One of the best strikers in the world will not join Arsenal this summer because of one reason.

The Gunners have had a tremendous 2024. They have lost just one game in the Premier League and that came against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Since then, calls for Arsenal to sign a new striker have emerged again. Gabriel Jesus has come under serious criticism recently, while Mikel Arteta’s decision to change Kai Havertz‘s position has been questioned again.

Arsenal are likely to have a look in the market to sign a new forward, and they have been linked with plenty of names over the last few months.

Ivan Toney seemed like a favourite a few months ago, while the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Santiago Gimenez, Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins have been linked as well.

One other striker has been on Arsenal’s radar too, but the Gunners have made a decision now.

Victor Osimhen will not join Arsenal for one reason

Victor Osimhen has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long, long time.

The Nigeria international is one of the best strikers in the world. He played a massive part in helping Napoli will the Serie A title last season, and he is very likely to move to a different club this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with a move to sign Osimhen, while Chelsea are really interested in the Napoli man as well.

Arsenal held talks with Osimhen’s agents in London a few years ago, and their interest hadn’t gone away until very recently.

However, now, the Gunners are no longer interested in the Nigerian.

Journalist Oma Akatugba has claimed that Arsenal have decided that they will not spend the money required to sign Osimhen this summer, which is around £113 million.

As a result, he has confidently revealed that Osimhen will not join Arsenal.

Akatugba said on The Josh and Darko Show: “I think the best place for Victor Osimhen right now is Arsenal, but he won’t go to Arsenal because they aren’t willing to put the money down.”

The story of how Arsene Wenger tried to sign Victor Osimhen

Arsene Wenger managed Arsenal for over two decades.

The legendary Frenchman was one of the best managers in the world, and his eye for young talent was arguably better than anyone else’s at the time.

Wenger came close to signing several outstanding players when they were young. The likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and even Kylian Mbappe come to mind, but Victor Osimhen was one too.

After the ‘world-class‘ Nigerian helped his country win the under-17 World Cup in 2015, Wenger called Osimhen and asked him to join Arsenal.

However, he felt a move to the Premier League was too early for him then.

Osimhen revealed in 2020: “I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal.

“I had a lot of options. Barcelona; Inter Milan; Atletico Madrid; Juventus and the rest.

“Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18. I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically. Wolfsburg showed me that possibility.”
