James Maddison and Micky van de Ven react as Pedro Porro issues hilarious Gareth Bale message

A number of Tottenham Hotspur players have been involved in a social media joke with Spurs legend Gareth Bale.

Up next for Tottenham is a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday where they will be able to put a firm hold on the top four race.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have fired out the traps following the return from the international break but face a big task tomorrow.

Although Eddie Howe’s side may not quite look to be the side they were last year, Spurs know full well what Newcastle are capable of at St. James’ Park.

But it looks like the mood at Hotspur Way is lighthearted ahead of their trip to the north east today ahead of their game against the Magpies.

James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have both weighed in on a recent social media post by Pedro Porro.

And the Spaniard even mentioned Gareth Bale in his post which had his teammates amused.

Pedro Porro’s post involving Gareth Bale had his teammates laughing

The Lilywhites will be fully aware of the task at hand on the weekend having been beaten in emphatic fashion on Tyneside last season.

A Spurs side led by Cristian Stellini were torn apart by the Magpies in what was one of the shock results of the season.

But it does seem as if the players are relaxed ahead of their game tomorrow having taken part in their very own Masters putting challenge on Thursday.

It is fair to say the Spanish right-back had a moment to forget after he was left with egg on his face with his attempt to putt the ball.

However, he took it like a champion and made a light hearted joke of it on his Instagram as he made a reference to the former Spurs winger, Bale.

Along with the video of his dreadful attempt, Porro said: ‘Masters week. Not quite @garethbale11 yet but definitely better than @madders though’.

To which Van de Ven replied four laughter emojis and Maddison responded, ‘I can’t stop watching that first putt’.

Ange Postecoglou has loved what he has seen from Porro this season

Perhaps surprisingly, Postecoglou did not start Porro in his first Spurs game against Brentford on opening day.

It was, in fact, Emerson Royal who played against Thomas Franks’ side and he even managed to find the back of the net with a stunning strike.

However, Porro quickly returned to the starting XI and he has certainly made it his own over the course of the season.

And it is fair to say Postecoglou has been delighted with what he has seen from the 24-year-old who was signed last year for Antonio Conte.

“He’s been outstanding all year. He’s worked awfully hard on his game, you know, on both offensive and defensive side. We’ve obviously put some different demands on that position and he’s adapted so well.”
