New phone case allows you to take advantage of secret iPhone button

A new phone case for the iPhone allows you to program a secondary action button to do everything from taking pictures to turning on a Tesla.

With the iPhone 16 and all of its AI features just months away, some of you might have started saving to bag the newest model of Apple’s legendary product. But don’t throw away your earlier models just yet as Chinese company Bitmo Lab has changed the game with their new iPhone case.

New phone case, who dis?

Bitmo Labs, a new company formed by JSAUX and SSPAI, put out a press release on Tuesday about their exciting new piece of technology, the BANG!CASE.

The quirky new phone case works by tapping into the iPhone’s shortcut feature which was added to iPhones back in 2018 as part of the iOS 12 update. The app allows Apple customers to program their phone to their unique requirements, but some on social media have admitted to never using the handy feature.

Currently, owners of the latest iPhone models are able to program the action button to enter silent mode, enter focus mode, start the camera, turn on the flashlight, record a voice memo, and translate a foreign language. There is also an option for inputting a shortcut of your own, meaning you could open TikTok, play music, or even check your health information.

If you’re one of the people who struggles to get a handle on the shortcuts feature, then Bitmo Lab has also whipped up a handy guide with built-in QR codes. Their Playbook is available here.

On April 16, the BANG!CASE launched a Kickstarter with an initial goal of £1,027, which they have already met. With 44 days left to go on the crowdfunding platform, the new iPhone case could be in your pocket sooner than expected.

At the time of writing, Bitmo Lab said they were designing the case for the iPhone 14, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max. Considering the iPhone 16 is just months away, it’s reasonable to assume that Bitmo Lab will also be updating its design to fit the upcoming models.
