Dele Alli posts message on Instagram after appearing on Sky Sports Monday Night Football

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has now issued a message on his social media channel following his appearance on Monday Night Football.

The 28-year-old has had another difficult season which has been plagued by injury leaving him still in recovery.

Dele has not played a single minute of football this season and it now looks like Spurs will miss out on the £10m potential fee from Everton.

Daniel Levy has a clause included in the deal with the Toffees that would see Everton send over £10m if Dele made 20 appearances for the club.

It is now impossible for Dele to do that between now and the end of the season.

He was not involved in Everton’s trouncing on Monday night, but he did feature in Sky Sports’ coverage of the game.

And after his appearance on the national broadcast, the former Tottenham player issued a message through his Instagram account.

What Dele Alli said after featuring on Monday Night Football

It is a real shame to see how Dele’s rise to stardom on the pitch has taken a serious downturn over recent years.

The midfielder was once the shining light of the Premier League during his early days in north London.

However, his battles off the field have had a big effect on his football, but it is apparent the 28-year-old is now ready to battle to turn his career around.

Not playing at all this season will have been a big blow for the midfielder who will have hoped to get back to football after his revealing interview with Gary Neville.

That was not to be. However, it will be interesting to see whether Everton are willing to play Dele now they will not have to pay Spurs the £10m transfer add-on.

What is most important is that Dele can find somewhere this summer – after becoming a free agent – that will provide him with everything he needs to rediscover his best form.

And it was apparent there were a lot of positive messages heading his way after his Sky Sports appearance on Monday.

Taking to his Instagram account, Dele said: ‘Thank you @skysports for welcoming me onto MNF last night. Really enjoyed trying something a bit different for me out of my comfort zone. Have seen a lot of the love and support today, appreciate you all and can’t wait to be back on the pitch again’.

Dele Alli admits he has eyes on 2026 World Cup

Despite barely playing any for the last two years, Dele has admitted he still holds lofty ambitions for the next few years.

Dele has not been at his absolute best for a number of years now with the 2016/17 campaign the last time he scored more than 10 goals in the league.

However, this is not detering him away from holding big aspirations for the coming seasons.

“World Cup 2026. That’s my aim for now. I think that people will be like, “he hasn’t played in a year” but I don’t care, I know my level,’ said Dele on Monday Night Football.

“The only target I have is the World Cup right now. Obviously I’m injured and contracted to Everton and so my mind is just about taking it day by day and making sure my injury is healed and that I’m in the best possible condition after the summer.”
