Gissing road to be closed as tree maintenance works are carried out

Essential tree maintenance has been planned for Chequers Lane, Gissing from April 24 April 26. The work will be carried out between 9am to 3pm, and is expected to take 3 days to complete, weather permitting.

Due to the nature of the work the road will need to be closed, and no access to traffic between these junctions will be available during the time the works are being carried out.

The work is necessary as the trees have been confirmed by the arboricultural team as diseased and dying and posing a risk to highway users, so unfortunately will need to be removed to ensure the highway can continue to be used safely. The hedge, undergrowth and other trees close by will be unaffected.

Frindsbury Hill is to remain shut for weeks for roadworks outside the new Maritime Academy

Detailed surveys will be carried out to ensure nesting birds are not disturbed. The work will be carried out at a later date if necessary.

There will be a fully signed diversion route in place while the work is underway.
