'Great replacement': Nemanja Matic says 39-year-old would be a brilliant manager for Liverpool

Nemanja Matic has named a manager who would be an excellent replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Klopp’s farewell at Anfield is just over a month away.

The German announced back in January that he would be stepping down from his role as Liverpool‘s manager, and the Reds have been on the hunt for a replacement since.

Liverpool have been linked with about a dozen names for their soon-to-be-vacant job, and Matic, who used to play for Manchester United and Chelsea, has had his say on one of them.

Nemanja Matic shares what he thinks will happen if Ruben Amorim joins Liverpool

Ruben Amorim has been heavily linked with the Liverpool job.

The 39-year-old is among the most exciting young managers in Europe right now, and he will surely be a wanted man at the end of this season.

Liverpool have made Amorim the favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp, and reports have revealed that they have even tabled a three-year contract offer to get him.

Now, Nemanja Matic has had his say.

The Serbian, who has played under some incredible managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte over the years, has lauded Amorim.

Matic admitted that he doesn’t know if Amorim will go to Liverpool, but he believes the Sporting Lisbon boss would be a success at Anfield.

Speaking to O Jogo, Matic said: “Ruben Amorim is an excellent person, he was one of the people who helped me the most when I arrived at Benfica because he speaks English very well, I hope he hasn’t forgotten how to speak it now [laughs].

“I see Ruben Amorim at a great club, I don’t know if it will be Liverpool, but if it happens I’m sure he’ll be a great replacement for Klopp because Ruben understands football and has the personality and character to be a great coach, he already is at the moment.

“I’d like to see him in the Premier League, let’s see what happens from now on.”

The latest update on Ruben Amorim to Liverpool

Ruben Amorim has been reported as the only name Liverpool are pursuing right now.

The 39-year-old, whose Sporting Lisbon side are seven points clear at the top of the Portuguese league table with five games to spare, is focusing on the job in hand.

Once he wraps up the title, the negotiations between Liverpool and Amorim are expected to accelerate, and the latest update reveals that he is actually ‘keen’ to make the move to Anfield.

That is amazing news if you’re a Reds fan, and Nemanja Matic’s comments should fill you with even more confidence over how Amroim will fare if he does end up as Liverpool’s manager.
