£60m midfielder will ‘definitely’ leave this summer after claims Tottenham want to sign him

Tottenham Hotspur may look to raid Shakhtar Donetsk for the second summer in a row as Ange Postecoglou and co form transfer plans.

Much of last summer’s business has been hugely positive.

Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven have been superb at the back whilst James Maddison and Brennan Johnson have made an impact in the final third.

We haven’t seen too much of Manor Solomon though with the winger struggling with injuries since September.

The former Fulham man showed some promise early in the season but will finish his first year at the club with just five league appearances to his name.

Bizarrely, Tottenham are still involved in a transfer stand-off with Solomon’s former club Shakhtar Donetsk.

Solomon suspended his contract with Shakhtar and headed to Fulham before leaving permanently for Tottenham.

Shakhtar claim to still be owed compensation as a result but chief executive Sergei Palkin told ESPN that Tottenham have so far offered ‘peanuts’.

Shakhtar CEO on Tottenham target Heorhiy Sudakov

Reports on Tuesday suggested that Tottenham are ‘seriously’ considering a move to sign Shakhtar midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov.

Palkin has now told the London Evening Standard that there is a ‘big chance’ for Sudakov to make a huge move this summer before adding that he will ‘definitely’ move.

Palkin claims contact is underway with some ‘big clubs’ and that he has been asked plenty of questions about Sudakov’s future this week.

“This summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs,” said Palkin. “We have had some contacts with big clubs and some are not negotiating with us directly but are getting a feel for the summer environment.”

“He will definitely move to a top European club this summer. When I was at Chelsea versus Everton on Monday, many people asked me about Sudakov,” he added.

The Standard add that Shakhtar want around £60million for Sudakov, which is some way short of his release clause.

Sudakov release clause

Fabrizio Romano claims that Sudakov’s release clause is a stunning €150million (£128million), which is seemingly just a deterrent.

Shakhtar are willing to sell at around half the price, but whether Tottenham are willing to pay that kind of money remains to be seen.

The 21-year-old likens himself to Phil Foden and even Tottenham star Maddison, so we can understand why Tottenham are eyeing him as another talented, creative midfield player to develop under Postecoglou.

£60million seems lofty though and Mykhailo Mudryk’s lack of impact at Chelsea may leave Tottenham reluctant to splash so much money on a player with no experience outside of Ukraine.

Sudakov looks to be a real talent but we would imagine that he is just one of a number of midfielders on the Spurs radar ahead of the summer.
