Report: How Everton staff actually feel about Sean Dyche and whether he should be sacked

A report has shared how people within Everton feel about Sean Dyche’s future at Goodison Park.

Everton’s form since the turn of the new year has been nothing short of abysmal. One Premier League win in 2024 means the Toffees are now looking over their shoulder.

Wranglings with the Premier League and ownership issues haven’t helped. The circumstances for Dyche are far from ideal, and if he does maintain the club’s league status, he deserves credit.

The latest on 777 Partners’ takeover is that the Miami-based firm remains confident of completing its proposed purchase. The sooner there’s clarity in the boardroom, the better.

Further complications involve the club appealing its second Premier League deduction. As a result, there’s a genuine chance of the Premier League table being fluid after the final ball has been kicked; for any manager, this is a nightmare scenario.

Current Premier League bottom five – 2023/24

Had Everton not been docked eight points, they would be up in 14th place, 10 points clear of Luton Town and the relegation zone.

Something that club insiders are taking into account.

Could Everton sack Sean Dyche?

Monday’s 6-0 hammering by Chelsea didn’t help Dyche in the slightest, particularly after Everton’s first Premier League win of 2024 against Burnley.

Many had hoped the scrappy win over Vincent Kompany’s side was a turning point. The trip to Stamford Bridge was an abrupt return to reality.

The pressure is mounting on the 52-year-old, and The Athletic have now shared how those at the club feel about the former Burnley boss.

The report read: “There are those internally, too, who feel that yet more managerial change should be avoided if possible, that the churn in the dugout is one of the reasons they are in this mess and that Dyche would almost certainly be judged differently without the points deductions.”

Everton stance on Sean Dyche should come as no surprise

Evertonians shouldn’t be surprised by the club’s stance on Dyche’s future. At this point in the season, sacking a manager would feel futile. With just a handful of games left, a new boss would have a huge firefighting job to deal with.

The latest report from The Athletic follows iNews’ claim that the 52-year-old was safe at Goodison Park.

Dyche knows that his side would already be safe if it wasn’t for the Premier League points deductions, which seems a reasonable stance.

Nevertheless, performances must improve, starting on Sunday when Everton face Nottingham Forest in what is shaping up to be a massive clash in the battle to avoid relegation.
