The summer transfer window is just around the corner, and Tottenham look set to add some more creativity to their midfield.
Indeed, Spurs are supposedly keen to add another dynamic in the middle of the park, and one player who is reportedly on the north London club’s radar is Dani Olmo.
According to GiveMeSport, Ange Postecoglou wants to sign the Spaniard this summer, and that is a very interesting proposition.
The attacking midfielder is not only a fantastic player, he’d also potentially help another of Tottenham’s players reach their full potential.
Dani Olmo could help Timo Werner
In our view, the signing of Olmo could really help Timo Werner find his goalscoring touch at Tottenham.
The pair played together successfully at RB Leipzig before Werner’s move to Spurs, and in an interview with Goal a few years ago, Olmo highlighted just how well he understands Werner as a player and his game as a whole.
“He gives you a lot of options because he loves to move all over the pitch,” Olmo said. “He’s not a target man or a static striker, he likes to drift to the wings or drop into midfield to receive the ball and break the defensive line.
“He’s so fast and he has the killer instinct – he’s scored a lot this season. He’s a player that gives you a lot of opportunities in the way that he plays. I think the place that he fits best is Leipzig and the Bundesliga. He’s doing pretty well where he is.”
Dani Olmo understands Timo Werner
Timo Werner is an enigma of a player who can be difficult to understand at times, but, by the sounds of it, Olmo is a player who actually gets him.
Olmo knows that Werner isn’t your archetypal striker, he drifts all over the pitch and you need to accommodate for his unique style in your build-up.
Werner hasn’t had the easiest time at Tottenham so far, but perhaps if Olmo joins this summer and Werner’s loan is made permanent, he could kick on next season.
