'A bit of a cesspit': Chris Sutton shares what he really can't stand about Chelsea right now

Chris Sutton has not held back while discussing his former club Chelsea ahead of their FA Cup semi-final tie on Saturday.

Chelsea‘s last result was actually a very good one — their best of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s men managed to beat Everton 6-0, with Cole Palmer scoring four of his side’s goals.

The fourth was a penalty which he eventually took after a dispute with Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson.

Pochettino was not happy with what happened before the spot-kick and warned Madueke and Jackson they would be out of the team if they repeated their antics ever again.

Chris Sutton displeased with Chelsea

It has not been a great season for Chelsea, who currently sit ninth in the Premier League table.

Sutton has now had a real go at the dressing room, claiming the team’s penalty farce on Monday sums them up and the hard task that Pochettino has.

Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off!, the former Chelsea striker said: “I don’t think Cole Palmer’s missed a penalty, so therefore what was the debate about? It just tells me that the Chelsea dressing room is a bit of a cesspit of overinflated egos, overpaid players who think that they’re the finished article.

“It also emphasises what a difficult job Pochettino has had on, has got on. You need a harmonious dressing room. It’s like in any walk of life. Not everybody is going to get on, but there are rules and there are standards within the dressing room and within the team which players simply know they have to uphold.”

Chelsea’s dressing room

Sutton’s assessment of Chelsea’s dressing room is quite a brutal and harsh one.

What happened on Monday was obviously not good to see, but this is still a very young group of players.

Madueke and Jackson are both still 22, for example. We are going to see moments of immaturity from time to time.

This was not a dressing room of experienced pros that behaved like that, so Pochettino should not be too worried. He has put his foot down and has hopefully got his message across. It is now time for Chelsea to move on from this whole ordeal, especially with an FA Cup semi-final tie to play against Manchester City.
