25-year-old dropped, Anthony Musaba starts: Predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI v Blackburn - opinion

Sheffield Wednesday take on Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on Sunday.

Sheffield Wednesday will have to watch on this weekend as their relegation rivals all play on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town are at home to Swansea City, Birmingham City are away at Rotherham United, Stoke City host Plymouth Argyle, and QPR host Preston.

Danny Rohl‘s side will be hoping for a repeat of the reverse fixture against Blackburn Rovers which ended in a 3-1 win at Hillsborough.

But Rovers go into this game in decent form having lost just two of their last eight under John Eustace, beating Leeds United 1-0 last time out.

Sheffield Wednesday have lost one of their last five, drawing their last two and currently needing a point to get out the drop zone.

Speaking in his Thursday press conference, Rohl said that Sheffield Wednesday don’t look set to welcome back any injured players for Sunday’s game at Ewood Park.

The Owls remain without the likes of Momo Diaby and Juan Delgado, though Rohl is hoping that Di’Shon Bernard and Ian Poveda can make a return before the end of the season.

Rohl said of the pair:

“Hopefully he’s [Bernard] back before the end of the season. This is of course Di’Shon and Ian [Poveda]. We will see. Di’Shon, my hope is big. Day-to-day, we try to bring him on the grass, and Ian as well. Could be helpful to have both available.”

Rohl has chopped and changed between a back four and back five this season.

Though away from home, Rohl often likes a 5-2-2-1 formation which can make the Owls more dangerous on the break.

Although Blackburn aren’t the most potent or dangerous team in the league, Wednesday may still feel like the underdogs for this one, so a more counter-attacking game might be their best bet.

Expect Marvin Johnson and Pol Valentin on the flanks, with an unchanged middle three from the 1-1 draw vs Stoke City last time out.

One possible change could see Ike Ugbo removed from the XI; he’s not scored in his last eight games for club and country, but could be better utilised as an impact player on Sunday.

Expect one of Djeidi Gassama or Anthony Musaba to return to the side.
