'Definitely': Joe Cole now claims £45m player would get into any Chelsea team in history

Joe Cole has been part of some incredible Chelsea teams.

The former winger has been in squads consisting of the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry.

These days, Chelsea are not blessed with those kind of options. It is one reason why they currently find themselves ninth in the table, fighting for a place in the Europa League.

However, Cole actually thinks there is one player in their ranks who could play for any of Chelsea’s previous sides.

The Chelsea legend has also been speaking about Mykhailo Mudryk, believing that the winger could prove to be better than one recent Arsenal signing.

Joe Cole convinced £45m man could play in any Chelsea team

It has obviously been a disappointing season for Chelsea, who were recently knocked out of the FA Cup.

They lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the semi-finals at Wembley over the weekend.

However, one player who has obviously not disappointed is Cole Palmer, and Cole thinks he is good enough to play for any Chelsea team.

On the 21-year-old, he told talkSPORT (22/04/2024 at 11:07): “The one that springs to me who I think could play for any [Chelsea] team is Cole Palmer.

“Honestly, the amount of times the team have played this season and in difficult moments, we can all walk and talk when you are 3-0 up, but the difficult games where he has made the difference. It is not even necessarily the goals and the assists, where he has taken the ball and been brave. So, he is one I would definitely put in there.”

Palmer has scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists for Chelsea this season. He cost the Blues just £45m and if they were ever to sell him, you suspect that he would end up being on their list of biggest sales.

Cole Palmer injury update

Palmer is the main man in this Chelsea team right now and his numbers show that he probably could get into previous Blues’ squads.

Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino, though, it looks like he will be without the England international tonight when Chelsea take on Arsenal at the Emirates.

The Argentine confirmed in his pre-match press conference yesterday that Palmer was a doubt.

It means the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling will have to step up, especially the former. Jackson has a point to prove after missing a host of chances at Wembley on Saturday.
