Exclusive: Tottenham already open to selling ‘outstanding’ player who Ange Postecoglou only signed last summer

Tottenham Hotspur are already open to selling a player who Ange Postecoglou only brought in over the summer.

It has been a mixed bag at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season with the Lilywhites’ form having fallen off a cliff in recent months.

Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival over the summer looked to have brought Tottenham a new lease of life after a dismal spell under Antonio Conte.

However, the north London club look like they have ran out of ideas as they go into Sunday’s trip to Anfield having lost their last three.

This summer’s transfer window is going to provide Postecoglou and Daniel Levy with an opportunity to fine tune this Spurs squad again.

And it is likely a number of players will be heading for the exit doors at Hotspur Way with the Australian set to clear out the squad.

One player who the club only signed in the summer is one of those with his 2023/24 campaign not panning out the way he would have hoped for in north London.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey of HITC Football has been speaking exclusively to The Spurs News about the future of one specific player at Tottenham.

Tottenham already set to wave goodbye to summer signing

The business done since Postrecoglou’s arrival last year has looked extremely encouraging on the whole.

Players like Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven have been the standout signings with James Maddison and Brennan Johnson also improving the sqaud.

However, it has not been a 100% success rate for Spurs over the last two transfer windows with Alejo Veliz one of the questionable signings made.

The Argentine has been unable to break into the Spurs starting XI and has since been sent out on loan to Sevilla where he has also struggled.

But there is another name who the club would now be open to selling and that is winger Manor Solomon.

The Israeli forward joined on a free over the summer and has seen his season curtailed through injury.

With Spurs in the market for new forwards this summer, Bailey has told The Spurs News that Solomon’s future is in doubt.

“It hasn’t quite worked out for him. He was always a risk but he was on a free transfer so that’s a decent profit on the profit and sustainability spreadsheet if Tottenham sell Manor Solomon,” he said.

“I think he could move on. I think Solomon is one of those where Tottenham aren’t actively pushing him out of the door, but I think he’s one that other teams will be looking at as an option. He doesn’t have a massive future at Tottenham, from what I’m hearing.”

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Manor Solomon’s injury

Solomon’s season has been ended through a knee injury which he has now had multiple rounds of surgery on.

Speaking in March, Postecoglou provided an update on Solomon’s fitness and admitted it has been a frustrating injury.

“Again, it is another frustrating one for him. He is working really hard, keen to get back and we were hoping for an early return date, but it’s been little things along the way that have set him back. Fair to say, he is still a fair bit away from the group,” he said.

And it has been a frustrating one for Spurs who have now seen their attack completely dry up over recent weeks.

Solomon – although not prolific – did have a bright start to the season having provided two assists on his first start as a Spurs player.

He impressed so much Tim Sherwood hailed him “outstanding” on Sky Sports for his performance in the win over Sheffield United.

But if Spurs are to sign Timo Werner permanently, then it does look like Solomon may already have been replaced in the Spurs squad for next season.
