Crystal Palace will try to sell "stunning" £14m player this summer, he's proved he can't start - Journalist

With incomings galore expected this summer at Crystal Palace, there are also some outgoings in the works too.

While this current Crystal Palace side are severely lacking in depth, we expect this issue will have to get worse before it gets better.

Below Oliver Glasner‘s starting eleven are players who probably aren’t going to cut it as the Austrian pushes the Eagles toward the next level.

This clearout will be expedited with seven players set to depart for free this summer, but sales will also be made.

Odsonne Edouard is on the departure list this summer

In what is likely to be a summer of change at Copers Cope, Odsonne Edouard looks unlikely to survive the cull.

Now, Graeme Bailey has had his say on the potential departure of the Frenchman whom Chris Sutton once labelled as “stunning“.

“I don’t think they see Odsonne Edouard as leading the line for them.

“I think he’s proved he’s not capable of doing that, so not a huge surprise to see them trying to move him on.”

It’s little shock to see Edouard being linked with a move away, considering Glasner hasn’t favoured him since he arrived in South London over two months ago.

This is despite his goal against Manchester City, which in some ways was the first goal of the excellent form Palace have since shown, given how they concluded the game against the treble holders.

Selling Edouard is the right move for Crystal Palace

For Palace, there could be a few players linked with moves away this summer who they aren’t keen to sell such as the Eberechi Eze‘s and Michael Olise‘s of the world.

But Edouard is a player who after costing £14m to sign, would be a strong candidate to raise some funds.

Whether the full £14m would be recouped or not is yet to be seen, but he’d likely be subject to substantial interest as he is only 25.

Selling Edouard might even help fund a big money move for the likes of Eddie Nketiah who’d be an upgrade on Edouard and a close competitor to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
