‘I’ve heard’: People at Spurs now think £25m player isn’t right for Postecoglou – journalist

The Ange Postecoglou revolution at Tottenham isn’t quite going to plan.

The Australian looked as though he’d unlocked Spurs’ massive potential at the start of this season, but, with all due respect, since the beginning of 2024, Tottenham have been playing like a mid-table side.

Tottenham’s recent run of results has been poor, and there are questions being asked both externally and internally of players within the squad.

Speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Tom Allnutt has been discussing some of the issues at Spurs, and he says that he’s heard a couple of whispers about Yves Bissouma that sound concerned.

People at Tottenham are questioning Yves Bissouma

Allnutt discussed Bissouma and how he’s viewed internally at Tottenham.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Bissouma was let go. I’ve heard a couple of whispers about Bissouma that he’s not the right fit for Ange in terms of his personality and in terms of his play. You see these guys at the start of the season and think they’re wonderful, but over nine months, it’s not quite right,” Allnutt said.

Yves Bissouma started so well

We never thought that Bissouma would’ve been viewed this way by Postecoglou at the beginning of the season.

In the early days, it felt like Bissouma and Postecoglou were a match made in heaven.

The Malian midfielder was playing some of his best football at the beginning of this campaign, and he couldn’t speak highly enough of his new manager at the start of the season.

“I was going to say. He has this determination about him. He has this crazy energy, and it’s this energy that he transmits to the team. He has crazy energy. This coach is something crazy. He reminds a little of Graham [Potter]. He has this crazy energy, it’s incredible,” Bissouma said about Postecoglou early in the season.

Now though, things have gone awry and questions are being asked of Bissouma, and, as Allnutt says, he could even be sold in the summer.

The £25m man may not have a long-term future at Tottenham.
